Admissions Information

Windlestone School can accommodate up to 80 boys and girls of secondary school age who have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) in relation to their social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.

The majority of our students come from within County Durham but we do have some students who come from neighbouring authorities.  We have facility for up to 20 students to be resident at the school from Monday until Friday.

As a maintained special school in County Durham, referrals into the school are controlled by the Local Authority Statutory SEND Casework Team, and as such direct referrals cannot be accepted by the school.  We are, however, keen to ensure that prospective students and parents/carers are fully informed about the decisions they may make in relation to deciding on a preferred school so we will respond to requests for information and school visits if appropriate.

For more information contact the school or visit Alternatively, the Statutory SEN Casework Team can be contacted as a part of Children and Adults Services, Durham County Council, County Hall, Durham on the telephone number 03000 265 878.
